The Kelly Miller Circus will perform at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday at 999 Leicester Rd., Elk Grove Village, next to Pirate’s Cove. General seating costs $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show. Ringside box seats cost $15. Camel, elephant and pony rides will be available before and after each show for an additional fee. The district’s Special Education Parent Network is sponsoring a parent movie night at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 in Rupley School, 305 E. Oakton St., Elk Grove Village. The movie “It’s So Much Work to be Your Friend” presents strategies for teaching disabled pupils social skills in the classroom, home and community. Baby-sitting will be provided at no cost. Open houses will be held Sept. 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Conant, Fremd and Hoffman Estates High Schools; 7 to 9:15 p.m. in Palatine High School; and 7 to 9:30 p.m. in Schaumburg High School. Open houses also will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the district’s Lifeskills and Educational Alternatives Program in Streamwood and from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the district’s Academy North in Palatine. Sichan Siv, a Cambodian-born former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, will present Hope and Renewal: Life After Genocide, his journey from Cambodia to America, at 7 p.m. Tuesday and 1 p.m. Sept. 19 in the Advanced Technology Center auditorium at the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
