GIMME MORE DRAMA QUEEN!
Welcome to the latest installment of “As the Britney Turns.”
When we last saw the toxic one, she was clearly overwhelmed on the stage of the MTV VMAs. Now come rumors that she is she ready to make amends with America — on another awards show.
Usmagazine.com reported that a rep from Sunday’s Emmy Awards could neither confirm nor deny rumors that Brit was planning to appear on the show — possibly even to apologize.
Career suicide or brilliant marketing? Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, her latest single “Gimme More” is off to a strong start, landing in 85th on the Billboard Hot 100. If that seems low, its because she doesn’t release the song digitally until Oct. 2, when industry sources expect it to crack the Top 20.
Secret student
She’s been laying low for a while, but now we know where Shakira has been for the past month.
Incognito at UCLA.
The pop star went virtually unnoticed in an Introduction to Western Civilization: Ancient Civilizations from Prehistory to Circa A.D. 843 class.
“She went when she finished her tour, for the summer,” Shakira’s manager Fifi Kurzman told The Associated Press.
For years, the 30-year-old has studied on her own, taking tutorials on the history and languages of the countries she visits, Kurzman said. Lecturer Robert Cleve was astonished when he found out who she was.
“She told me she was visiting from Colombia and that she was just doing this for her own enlightenment,” Cleve said. “I was really impressed with how intelligent she was.”
No Kissing boys
It’s a tough life being an actress. But there’s one thing the newly married Eva Longoria really hates about her job: having to kiss other men.
“I hate the kissing. Kissing is the most intimate thing,” Longoria tells Extra TV.
The “Desperate Housewives” star added that her onscreen lip-locks aren’t a popular topic at home either.
“I’m not sure he’s happy about it, but he’s not the crazy husband about it,” she said. “We don’t talk about it because it’s just not a comfortable thing to talk about.”
Tori & Dean do ‘Chicago’?
Is Tori Spelling leaving her bed and breakfast behind — for prison?
Spelling and hubby Dean McDermott are in talks to appear in the Broadway musical “Chicago,” according to the New York Post and People magazine. They would join a long line of stars to play the roles of the high-stepping, imprisoned murderess Roxie Hart and her crooked lawyer, Billy Flynn.
The pair currently appear on Oxygen’s “Tori & Dean: Inn Love,” which follows their exploits running a B&B.
The Kid finally speaks
A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do, right?
Sunday’s brawl at the MTV Video Music Awards between Tommy Lee and Kid Rock, which resulted in Rock being cited by Las Vegas police, was a long time coming, Rock told L.A.’S KROQ-FM on Thursday.
“It’s been going on for five years,” Rock said of the bad blood between him and Lee, who, like Kid Rock, used to be married to Pamela Anderson. “I did what any man would do.”
Rock said his beef with Lee has nothing to do with Anderson. “It’s the farthest thing to do from that,” Rock said. “If he’s smart, he’ll be like you know down deep you had it coming. Just leave it alone now. Go your own way.”
