1. ‘Jericho’

7 p.m., WBBM-Ch. 2

Skeet Ulrich (right) and Sprague Grayden star in the Season 1 finale, and

someone is going to die. No, we’re not telling you who; if you’re a fan, you already know. But things get nasty between the residents of Jericho and the folks from a neighboring town. When the latter group attacks Jericho, the consequences are fatal for one of the local leaders. As for the long-term consequences, the new season premiere is not far off.

2. ‘Hollywoodland’

7 p.m., HBO

The mystery surrounding the alleged suicide death of 1950s television “Superman” George Reeves (well-portrayed by Ben Affleck) fuels Paul Bernbaum’s script in this smart melodrama. Adrien Brody plays a private detective who finds personal resonance in the Reeves case, because it involves power and infidelity. Diane Lane, Bob Hoskins and Robin Tunney also are in the fine cast directed by television veteran Allen Coulter (“The Sopranos”).

3. ‘Law & Order: Criminal Intent’

8 p.m., WMAQ-Ch. 5

Warning: Historical re-enactments may be hazardous to your health. A man is killed in a re-creation of the 1804 duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Goren and Eames (Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe) question the other participant (guest star Xander Berkeley), who happens to be married to a very ambitious politician (guest star Donna Murphy) with a dirty little secret.

4. ‘Heavyweights’

8 p.m., Food Network

Food fight! No, not the kind where you throw the stuff at one another. This new series revisits memorable battles between food-industry heavy hitters for the hearts, stomachs and wallets of America. The first episode looks at the competition for dominance in the high-end ice cream market. Later episodes cover the cola, pizza, chip, snack cake and chocolate wars.

5. ‘Comeback Season’

8 p.m., Lifetime

Stupidity doesn’t necessarily decrease with age. In this film written and directed by comedian Bruce McCulloch, Ray Liotta stars as a middle-age man who has an affair — thus ruining his relationships with his wife and daughters (Glenne Headly, Rachel Blanchard, Brooke Nevin). In trying to repair his mess, he meets a young man (Shaun Sipos) who also is going through major life changes.
