She set her country’s mark in Chicago last year (2 hours 22 minutes 36 seconds) while finishing third. Romania’s Nuta Olaru and Russia’s Alevtina Ivanova also are in the field.
*HORSE RACING: Champion thoroughbred John Henry is recovering well after battling dehydration last week, officials at the Kentucky Horse Park said. The 32-year-old gelding, who was Horse of the Year in 1981 and 1984, was treated with intravenous fluids last week.
*TENNIS: A trademark lawsuit by Andre Agassi alleges that Target Corp. sold a sandal using his name without his permission. The retailer said it was trying to relabel all of the sandals when Agassi Enterprises found the offending footwear.
*COLLEGES: Suspended Montana cornerback Jimmy Wilson pleaded not guilty in Lancaster, Calif., to a murder charge stemming from the shooting death of his aunt’s 29-year-old boyfriend. … Former Oklahoma State star Byron Houston was sentenced to four years in prison for violating probation on an indecent-exposure conviction. … Alabama point guard Ron Steele’s comeback from off-season surgery on both knees will wait another year. Steele said he would take a medical redshirt for what would have been his senior season.
