* The new artistic director of Chicago’s long-lived American Theater Company is coming all the way from Alaska. PJ Paparelli — currently artistic director of the Perseverance Theatre in Juneau, Alaska — also spent six years as associate director at the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington. Paparelli replaces Damon Kiely.

* Bad day for Britney Spears in her custody battle: Brit’s fired bodyguard, Tony Barretto, filed a statement alleging nudity, drug use and safety problems involving her two sons, according to People.com. Spears’ attorney, Laura Wasser, said, “He isn’t a credible witness” — just before Wasser called it quits. The final straw? E!Online reported that rumors of an assassination attempt on her ex, Kevin Federline, were false.
