Good Luck Chuck (R) !

Lonely dentist Charlie (Dane Cook) endures a curse: as soon as he sleeps with a woman, she finds true love with another man. That earns him a lot of one-night stands but threatens to screw things up with accident-prone penguin expert Cam (Jessica Alba, dumber than her birds), the first woman Charlie doesn’t want to let slip away. Dan Fogler co-stars as Charlie’s friend, a disturbingly chauvinistic cosmetic surgeon.

Skip it: The complete wrong way to make an R-rated comedy, “Good Luck Chuck” is as corny as a Kate Hudson movie — just with more breasts, sex jokes and people falling down. Telemarketers should target fans of the movie, though, because anyone who believes Cook as a good-hearted dentist will buy anything.

Catch it: To see an all-male a cappella group singing Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love.” Charlie hires the group, coming on way too strong to keep Cam close. Apparently full-fledged stalking is OK, as long it’s in the name of love!

Bottom line: Viewers expecting big laughs from Cook or a lot of skin from Alba instead will be treated to cruel jokes at the expense of overweight people, shots of penguins eating their own feces and an old woman hit in the head with a Frisbee. If this is your idea of a date movie, luck is exactly what you need.
