A teacher at Frost Junior High School in Schaumburg is under investigation for allegedly “engaging in inappropriate teaching methods in the classroom,” officials said Thursday.

Officials for Schaumburg-based School District 54 declined to discuss the incident or to say whether students were injured, citing privacy laws.

Staff members reported their concerns about the teacher to Principal Paul Goldberg on Tuesday morning and mentioned previous incidents, said Terri McHugh, a district spokeswoman. Goldberg said he put the teacher on paid administrative leave Wednesday.

“The information was brought to my attention Tuesday. The teacher coincidentally wasn’t in the classroom that day and he was not allowed back in the classroom,” Goldberg said Thursday.

The Schaumburg Police Department and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are investigating. No charges had been filed as of Thursday night.

The incident did not come up for discussion at Thursday’s school board meeting. Goldberg has spoken to all the parents of pupils who have the teacher, McHugh said.
