WHAT A KNOCKOUT
It’s not a “Fight Club” sequel, but Brad Pitt may be throwing a few punches in a new role.
Pitt is in talks to star in “The Fighter” with Mark Wahlberg, Variety reports.
The Paramount Pictures movie is about Boston boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward and his journey to become the world lightweight champion.
Wahlberg, a Boston native, is on board to play Ward. Pitt would play Dicky Eklund, Mickey’s half-brother and fellow boxer who fought Sugar Ray Leonard.
The role was to be played by Pitt’s “Ocean’s Eleven” co-star Matt Damon, who had scheduling conflicts.

50 Cent won’t go down that easily.
After pulling out of two awards shows in London and postponing his UK gigs earlier this week, the rapper has rescheduled the shows, the BBC reports.
According to BBC, Fitty has eight arena gigs in the UK scheduled for November. Tickets are set to go on sale Saturday.
So much for retiring.

Meet the new Mariah.
The newly svelte singer, who has a new album in the works, told People magazine the secret to her look is “bleak diets.”

AIRING IT OUT
It looks like an Air America radio personality is ready to channel O.J. Simpson in a fight against fellow funnyman, Stephen Colbert of “The Colbert Report.”
The Young Turks co-host Cenk Uygur unleashed some mock-outrage at Colbert in a press release posted on theyoungturks.com, E! Online reported. Uygur, who has accused Colbert of stealing one of his jokes comparing the Republican party to Klingons, warned that anyone involved in the alleged joke theft better “lawyer up,” the statement read.
“As O.J. would say, ‘Think you can steal my [bleep]? Up against the wall [bleep],” Uygur said through the statement. “I couldn’t have said it better myself, that’s why I didn’t; I just quoted him instead.”
