If Pack does well, Favre is back
If you’re a fan of great football players, good news. If you’re a die-heard Bears fans, maybe not-so-good news. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Packers quarterback Brett Favre could be back, perhaps for more than one year. Favre was asked whether the degree of success the Packers experience this season would affect his thoughts on retirement. His answer was clear: “If I play at a high enough level and we, meaning this team and organization, come close or get into the playoffs, have some success but are just a little bit away, they still feel like I can play, want to pay me what they’re paying me to lead this team, and I still felt like I have it left, yes, I see no reasons why [not].”
Broncos’ Marshall catching on
During Broncos training camp, second-year receiver Brandon Marshall made his coaches wonder if he could cut it in the NFL. After the first two games of the season, Marshall is making defensive coordinators wonder how to stop him. “I’ve always said he is a top-10 talent,” coach Mike Shanahan said. “He has that type of ability. He can be a star.” After the two games he has 10 catches for 134 yards. For now, his training-camp quadriceps injury and questions about whether he can handle the job appear to be behind him. “I know what I can do, and what I have to do to get there,” Marshall said. “I’ve worked very hard to get to this point, and I’m not going to let anything stop me.”

100-yard rushers on a roll
Travis Henry (left) of the Broncos and Willie Parker of the Steelers have rushed for 100 yards in each of their first two games this season. That extends Henry’s streak of consecutive 100-yard games to four and Parker’s to three. Henry also rushed for 100 in his final two games as a member of the Tennessee Titans in 2006. He became a salary-cap casualty and was snapped up by the Broncos in free agency. Parker also rushed for 100 yards in Pittsburgh’s 2006 finale against the Cincinnati Bengals.
