As promotions go, the one for Sunday’s season premiere of the Showtime series “Dexter” was an interesting one. Chicago used red lighting on Thursday to make it appear that blood was spewing from Buckingham Fountain as part of a 14-city stunt to trumpet the second season of the show about “America’s favorite serial killer.” According to co-star Keith Carradine, who joins the cast this season as an FBI expert trying to catch Dexter (Michael C. Hall), the stunt is a nod to this season’s plot line. (Spoiler alert: Dex’s victims begin washing up.) And Carradine totally dug the Buckingham Fountain ploy. “What a good idea,” he told us. “You guys turn the Chicago River green on St. Pat’s Day — why not red for ‘Dexter’?”
