*The Knight of Champions marching band festival will be held from 3:45 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Gattas Memorial Stadium at Prospect High School, 801 W. Kensington Rd., Mt. Prospect. Gates open at 3 p.m. Sixteen Midwest marching bands will compete. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and students with ID, and $25 for a family of four. Ages 3 and younger are admitted free.
*A series of parent education programs will be held Tuesdays during the school year in Prospect High School theater, 801 W. Kensington Rd., Mt. Prospect. The series will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday with Substance Abuse and Use, a look at current trends, signs to look for, legal ramifications and recovery. *College Fair 2007 will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the multipurpose room and commons area at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. More than 100 college admission representatives from around the state and country will provide information. The fair is open to high school juniors and seniors and their parents, college students interested in transferring and adults returning to college. The director is casting two Asian-American females to play in their 20s, one female 40 to 50 years old, and three males 20 to 50 years old. Actors should prepare a contemporary comedic monologue of less than two minutes. Cold readings from the script will also be heard. Performances will be Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 and Dec. 6-9.
