I LOVE …
… the Fairy Castle at the Museum of Science and Industry.
— Georgeana Riggio, Winnetka
… the carrot muffins from El Paraiso Bakery (1156 W. 18th St.) in the Pilsen neighborhood. I buy them by the dozen, freeze ’em, then pop one in the microwave for 20 seconds and they’re almost as good as fresh. They’re cheap, too.
— Paul Schiff, Chicago
… the Celebrations page in the Tempo section when they show the wedding picture and the current picture of couples married 40, 50 and even 60 years.
— Sue Harrison, Chesterton, Ind.
I HATE …
… car horns that go off to verify the lock is on. They always make me jump.
— Joni Zavis, Highland Park
… opening a package of chewing gum with a pepperminty kind of name like “Arctic Chill,” only to discover it is wintergreen. Why don’t they just make the package pink and call it Pepto-Bismol flavor. Ugh!
— Julie Dunham, South Bend, Ind.
… people who don’t stay the required distance away from the front of the entrance of a public building in Chicago when they smoke. Some people can’t even wait until they get outside, lighting up in the midst of a revolving door.
— Paul Lockwood, Woodstock
