*Bruce Springsteen and his wife are being sued, accused of backing out of a contract to buy a horse worth $850,000 for their teenage daughter. Olympic equestrian Todd Minikus filed the breach of contract lawsuit Thursday in Florida’s Palm Beach County. It claims Springsteen and Patti Scialfa reneged on a deal to pay Minikus $650,000 for the horse, named Pavarotti, and give him their horse named Scarlett, worth $200,000.

*The world’s cutest mortician, “Six Feet Under’s” Freddy Rodriguez, becomes the latest honey in our heroine’s life on this week’s “Ugly Betty” (Thursday at 8 p.m., ABC). Rodriguez guests as Mode magazine’s new sandwich guy. Also on hand for the social event of the season, the Meades’ Black and White Ball: fashion icon Kenneth Cole.

*George Wendt, best known to audiences as Norm Peterson in “Cheers,” will take over the role of Edna Turnblad in Broadway’s “Hairspray” on Oct. 23.

*Denise Richards has listed her L.A. house for $3.9 million. Richards, 36, and her two daughters lived in the 5,188-square-foot home for slightly more than a year before she determined they needed more indoor space, the Los Angeles Times reports. She bought a five-bedroom, 5,600-square-foot house on an acre with a pool for about $4.6 million.
