1. ‘Dear Talula’

6:30 p.m., Cinemax

This documentary is a touching portrait of a new mom stricken with breast cancer. It’s also very short, so you won’t be hit over the head with its message. You aren’t the intended recipient, anyway. That would be the Talula of the title, daughter of filmmaker Lori Benson. The film is a chronicle of Benson’s struggle with the illness framed as a reminder to her little girl to love and appreciate life.

2. ‘Reaper’

8 p.m., WGN-Ch. 9

She’s toast! Well, the pun is to be expected when the devil (Ray Wise) gives Sam (Bret Harrison) a toaster as his weapon of choice in this new episode. This time, the soul is that of a ticked-off mistress (guest star Julia Anderson) who literally bugs to death anyone who gets near her ex — by sending attack insects. Andi’s (Missy Peregrym) new love interest (guest star Colby Johansson) encourages her to quit her job.

3. ‘House’

8 p.m., WFLD-Ch. 32

As the good Dr. House himself famously said, “There’s no I in ‘team.’ There is a ‘me,’ though, if you jumble it up.” In this new episode, House (Hugh Laurie) divides his fellowship candidates into two teams — boys against the girls — to work on the same case and see who comes up with the diagnosis and treatment first. House keeps busy giving himself the “Flatliners” treatment — trying to see what happens between life and death.

4. ‘P.O.V.’

9 p.m., WTTW-Ch. 11

You want a reality series? Here’s one that’s been around since 1964 and still hasn’t gotten stale. That’s because director Michael Apted only checks in with his subjects every seven years. This latest installment in his documentary series, “49 Up,” updates us on the ordinary Brits originally profiled as 7-year-olds in 1964’s “Seven Up.” There are some surprises from the film’s subjects, as well as some related to the film series itself.

5. ‘Boston Legal’

9:02 p.m., WLS-Ch. 7

Denny (William Shatner) is so sure that Carl Sack (John Larroquette) will lose a cockfighting case that he puts big money on it. Alan and Lorraine (James Spader, Saffron Burrows) try to make an abstinence-only sex ed program liable for a teen’s HIV in this new episode.
