Plans are afoot for a new Equity theater in suburban Berwyn. According to the artistic director (and Berwyn resident) Ann Filmer, the new 16th Street Theatre would be a 49-seat operation with its own resident playwrights. The new company would operate under the auspices of the Berwyn Cultural Center. Current plans call for the first show to open next April. … Julia Sweeny is back at the Lakeshore Theater this weekend with her superb one-woman show “Letting Go of God,” show times are 3 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. … The Jedlicka Performing Arts Center in Cicero is producing Joe Brooks’ Broadway show “In My Life.” This will be the first post-Broadway sighting of one of the biggest New York flops in recent history, about an unlikely romance between a musician with Tourette Syndrome and a woman with relationship phobias. … The long-sweating Sweat Girls are back with a new show (“Sweatily Ever After”) at the Raven Theatre’s West Stage, opening Oct. 21.
