Sibling rivalry

This weekend, Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg hit the big screen as brothers on opposite sides of the law in the movie “We Own the Night.” In real life, both Phoenix and Wahlberg share the showbiz spotlight with their siblings. Mark’s older brother Donnie is best known for his roles in TV dramas such as “Band of Brothers” and “Boomtown.” Joaquin comes from a family of thespians — sisters Summer, Rain and Liberty all are in the biz — with the most notable being his late brother, River.

Here’s a look at other celebs who have made recent news with their siblings.

Sorry, Sis

Solange Knowles (right), Beyonce’s kid sister, told Essence magazine that although she admires her big sis, she pities her superstardom. Solange, also an actress and singer, said, “I’m always like, ‘Oh, let’s go to the mall’ or ‘Let’s go here’ and she can’t. I enjoy having that.”

Two Princes

Princes William (right) and Harry recently commemorated the 10th anniversary of the death of their mother, Princess Diana. Despite life in the public eye, Prince Harry told “Today” anchor Matt Lauer in June that the brothers live relatively normal lives — to which William joked, “You may be abnormal. I’m pretty normal.” Boys will be boys.

Miller girls

Sienna Miller (right) and her big sis Savannah, a fashion designer, joined forces to launch a new clothing line, Twenty8Twelve, which debuted in stores last month. Though the line is inspired by Sienna’s style, the sisters show an obvious appreciation for the other’s contributions. “I know what I like, and I can describe it, but she’s the genius,” Sienna told the L.A. Times of Savannah.

Brotherly Affleck-tion

Ben Affleck (left) may have been the star in the family, but it looks like his younger brother Casey is beginning to gain on him, with a big role in “Jesse James” and now the lead in Ben’s new flick, “Gone Baby Gone.” Asked in a recent interview with The Hartford Courant if the years in show business have divided the brothers at times, Casey replied, “We fight too much for something to come between us, you know what I mean? We’re too close. … When things come up, we just talk about it, or argue about it. Or fight about it. Or make up. The answer is no.”

Cruz times two

Think you’re seeing double? No, that’s Penelope Cruz’s younger sis, Monica (left), a professional dancer who also acts. The duo teamed up earlier this year to launch a limited-edition winter line for the Spanish fashion label Mango.

Winehouse comeback?

After canceling several recent performances, Amy Winehouse plans to perform at the 2007 mtvU Woodie Awards in New York next month.

The troubled British singer’s U.S. appearances had been canceled “in a continued effort to support Amy Winehouse’s well-being,” according to her U.S. record label. She also canceled a series of British concerts in August and didn’t perform as scheduled at the MTV Music Awards in September.

Winehouse is among the nominees for Woodie of the Year at the fourth annual mtvU Woodie Awards, which will be presented Nov. 8.

Bloom goes boom

Orlando Bloom was involved in a minor car accident early Friday morning in L.A. Witnesses told police that another car cut off the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, forcing him to hit a parked car, The Associated Press reported. Bloom, 30, was not injured and filed the police report, police told AP. According to people.com, the car that cut the actor off was driven by paparazzi. A phone message left early Friday at the office of Bloom’s publicist, Robin Baum, wasn’t returned.

No pictures, please!

Police have cleared Jude Law on charges of assaulting a paparazzo, people.com reports. The “Sleuth” star was arrested Sept. 4 after a paparazzo claimed Law assaulted him outside the actor’s London home. Law has been out on bail since voluntarily going to a police station after the incident. According to BBC News, the actor said through his London spokeswoman, “Of course I am delighted to be vindicated.”
