Darwin E. Kaiser, age 84, of South Elgin, was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Elgin, to Harvey and Margaret Kaiser, he passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007.
Darwin was self employed as part owner of Rolling Knolls Golf Course, Manor Pancake House in Elgin and St. Charles and Bartlett Tastee Freez.
Mr. Kaiser was a Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps, being honorably discharged in 1945, then continuing on in the Air Force Reserves until 1958, having been a pilot of a B-24 Bomber.
Darwin was also a member and past Treasurer of the American Legion Elgin Post #57.
He also was a member of the 1939 Elgin High School Football team that was the only undefeated, untied and unscored on team in Elgin High School history, under Coach John Kraft.
He is surrived by four daughters: Patti Flessner of McHenry, IL, Marsha Kaiser of Sullivan, MO, Dorthea (John Szieder) Kaiser of Downers Grove, Diane (the late Dale Hrouda) Kaiser of Stokesdale, NC, and one son Charles (Cindy) Kaiser of Sycamore, IL; as well as six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Darwin was preceded in death by his wife Lois and his parents.
Services and interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Elgin American Legion Post #57, Attn: Adjutant, 820 N. Liberty St., Elgin, IL 60120.Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, is in charge of arrangements.
