Hedgehogs love to engage in risky business; after all, that’s what hedge trading is all about. And what better way to satisfy the urge than to hold a No Limit Texas Hold ’em Tournament? But these are hedgehogs with a heart: The winnings go to the Midwest Hedge Funds Care Committee of Hope, an industry alliance devoted to the prevention and treatment of child abuse. The Junior League of Chicago sponsored the second annual tournament, at which 100 traders, investors, brokers and other industry players gathered at Joe’s Sports Bar on Weed Street to raise more than $40,000 for area children. Dealer’s choice: Has the pit boss noticed that the young man dealing the cards at Table 6 looks 16? “We are the ‘Young Professionals Board,’ replied Jennifer Edgcomb, who helped direct the tournament. Top prize: No surprise here–a trip for two to Vegas valued at $2,300. Queen of hearts: IT manager Alexa Arnold says she has her grandmother, Annie Metzler, to thank for her love of cards: “She always said, ‘Cards is cards. The game doesn’t matter. Always play to win.’ “
