A minor trope has focused on Eagles’ return man Reno Mahe and whether he can pull a surprise of his own. Otherwise, the town has been nearly unanimous in considering the Bears very beatable and especially susceptible to the run (hello, Brian Westbrook). The town also seemed to think its team’s flaccid triumph over the Jets meant Da Yiggles are back. Accordingly, I hoped and even expected that Philly would succumb to the same cockiness and complacency that did in Chicago last week.
Imagine my consternation, then, when I picked up this morning’s Inquirer and learned that 4 out of 7 Philly beat- and staff-writers are picking the Bears! So Philly is running scared after all, which is a very bad sign.
Of course, so will the Bears be running scared. This is a “lose and pack in the season” game for both teams, so I expect you will have another exhausting ordeal at the keyboard.
