– Will “The New Adventures of Old Christine” be returning? — Diane Meek, Vienna, Va.

It will, but at this writing, it wasn’t clear exactly when. CBS intends to bring back Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Emmy-honored sitcom at “midseason” for its third round, and for fans of a classic series in which she appeared, there’s something special to look forward to. One episode will reunite Louis-Dreyfus with Jason Alexander, who (of course) played George to her Elaine on “Seinfeld.”

– Why do we have to wait until next summer for future episodes of “Burn Notice”? — Helene Harrison, Naperville, Ill.

Well, for one thing, it takes time to write and film them. USA Network didn’t give an official renewal to the Jeffrey Donovan-Gabrielle Anwar espionage drama until close to the end of its first season, so nothing else was “in the can,” as they say in the business. Also, it’s become a tradition for cable networks to start new rounds of their most popular shows in the summer, when the broadcast networks mostly have ended their season of original series episodes.

– What happened to Andrea Koppel of CNN? I haven’t seen her in weeks. — David Howell, Harrisburg, Pa.

The cable news network elected not to renew her contract. We know that for the time being, she’s enjoying having more time with her husband and young son. However, since newscasting runs in the family — particularly since her father is Ted Koppel — we certainly wouldn’t count her out of the journalism game permanently.

– Watching Glenn Close on “Damages,” I’ve been trying to remember a movie in which she played another lawyer, but she fell in love with her client. Do you know what that was? — Cynthia Warren, Glen Cove, N.Y.

It was the 1985 drama “Jagged Edge,” in which Jeff Bridges played the newspaper publisher charged with his wife’s murder — which didn’t keep his defense attorney (Close) from falling for him.

– I got totally hooked on “Hidden Palms,” and now I can’t find it anywhere. What gives? — Barb Geittmann, Harvard, Ill.

What gives is that despite your loyalty, the show earned barely any ratings, even by summer-season standards. The CW stepped up the series’ scheduled airings — doubling up episodes on certain nights — to have it finish sooner than planned.
