Fully furnished
Sometimes the best way to stay in the loop is to run from the Loop. Take a seat in Lakeview for A Table and Chairs, a two-day showcase of emerging local directors and actors. See nine short works by playwrights such as Chicago’s own Michael Burgan (“Child’s Play”) and fest organizer Paul Barile (“You Gotta Kick Up You Heels!”). 8 p.m. Through Tuesday. $10. Bailiwick Repertory Arts Center, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. 773-282-0344.
Go out with a fang
And you thought the season for blood-sucking vermin was over: Take in two vampire flicks at The Motel Bar, screening Kathryn Bigelow’s “Near Dark” and Joel Schumacher’s 1987 flick “The Lost Boys.” The Halloween-inspired double feature is part of the bar’s Monday Night at the Movies weekly series. (Catch it while you can. The series ends Oct. 29.) Also, get $2 Miller Lite and Miller High Life bottles, $5 Plymouth gin cocktails and $7 sloppy joes. 7:30 p.m. No cover. The Motel Bar, 600 W. Chicago Ave. 312-822-2900.
Gimme some sugar
A little sugar goes a long way. Especially on a Monday. Morton’s of Chicago dishes out a little sweetness for its National Chocolate Day Celebration. Dine at any of six locations (including 65 E. Wacker Pl. and 1050 N. State St.) and get a complimentary chocolate treat to end your meal on a sweet note. 5:30 p.m. Through Sunday. Menu prices vary. See metromix.com for complete list of Morton’s locations. 312-266-4820.

Jung and the restless
Do opposites really attract? Author and relationship expert Dr. Paul Dobransky thinks so. He explains the “opposites” law through his relationship theory, “King, Warrior, Magician, Lover,” based on Jungian temperaments. On Tuesday, Elite Chicago Singles takes inspiration from Dr. Paul for a “KWML” singles night. The doctor won’t be there himself, but you can still test out his love theory. 8 p.m. $10. Registration required: elitechicagosingles.com. Red Ivy, 3525 N. Clark St.
WED 10/24
Stirring the plot
The Goodman Theatre is cooking up a tasty drama: Eduardo Machado’s play “The Cook” portrays the sparks that fly after the mistress of a Havana estate returns to her country 40 years after the eve of Castro’s revolution to confront the household cook she entrusted to safeguard her property. Henry Godinez directs. 7:30 p.m. Through Nov. 18. $10-$38. 170 N. Dearborn St. 312-443-3800.
