*TENNIS: Justine Henin won her ninth title of the season Sunday, beating 19-year-old Tatiana Golovin of France 6-4, 6-4 at the Zurich Open. The world’s top-ranked women’s player, whose previous best year was in 2003 when she won eight titles, has earned $4,282,886 this season, the most in her career.

*BASEBALL: The Yankees will interview their first three managerial candidates in quick succession, beginning with Joe Girardi on Monday in Tampa Don Mattingly is next on Tuesday, with Tony Pena on Wednesday. … Fox confirmed it will pursue Joe Torre to join the network as an analyst in 2008.

*NBA: The Wizards waived Tony Massenburg, ending the 40-year-old’s bid at a comeback. Massenburg was hoping to play for what would have been an NBA-record 13th franchise. The Wizards also waived guard Donell Taylor.

*RUNNING: Kenya’s Christopher Kiprotich won the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank Marathon in 2:15:14. Ukraine’s Anzhelika Averkova won the women’s race in 2:34:50.

*COLLEGE BASKETBALL: North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State were ranked 1-2-3 in the ACC preseason poll. The Tar Heels’ Tyler Hansbrough was projected as player of the year.

*HORSE RACING: Tim Doocy, filling in for injured regular rider Cliff Berry, guided 3-year-old Going Ballistic to a win in the $300,000 Centennial Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park.

*ROWING: The U.S. men’s and women’s national rowing teams won titles at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass.
