Lacrosse fans, your Chicago Shamrox will play after all.

The National Lacrosse League salvaged its 2008 season by agreeing on a new collective bargaining agreement with the union.

The NLL announced last week that it was canceling the upcoming season after the sides failed to settle on terms. The delay may mean that some of the league?s 14 teams won’t play this season.

On their Web site, the Shamrox said they “look forward to another great year in 2008.”

NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings said Thursday he doesn’t know when the season will start or how many games will be played.

The sides agreed to a seven-year deal that runs through the 2014 season.

The announcement that the season was canceled wasn’t a negotiating ploy, Jennings insisted.

He said fan response moved owners to authorize him to reopen talks. The sides agreed to a 5 percent increase in the maximum veteran and franchise player salaries to $22,358 and $27,948, respectively, and a 6 percent hike for all others.
