Foxsports.com’s Jay Glazer has emerged as the media conduit for Brian Urlacher. During an interview Monday, Glazer, who says he talks often to Urlacher: “He gets ticked off about what they say about his teammates. “I’ve tried to convince him, ‘Hey, get less sensitive about what they say about your team.’ He’s protective of his friends, his people, more so than anybody I’ve ever met. If you’re his guy, he lives and dies for you.”

– Suddenly the contract extension that Urlacher and the team had begun exploring informally looks like a risky commitment to an aging middle linebacker with arthritis.

– Former longtime Bears trainer Fred Caito said Urlacher might need some rest. “That’s the question I’d be asking,” he said. “This isn’t a bump or a bruise. You can see he’s having a hard time taking on blocks or playing up to par. He might need some rest.”

– Lovie Smith on Urlacher choosing foxsports.com to address the media and fans about his status: “I would like for all of our players to talk to the media, to get the point across, and evidently, Brian is trying to do that.”

– Devin Hester just got the wind knocked out of him late against the Lions and should be fine.

– Charles Tillman could be facing a fine for a horse-collar tackle on Lions WR Calvin Johnson.
