*A Jamaican judge released Grammy winning musician Beenie Man on $21,100 bail Monday after he appeared in court on tax evasion charges. Jamaican authorities say the singer and rapper, whose real name is Anthony Moses Davis, owes about $661,000 in overdue taxes in his Caribbean homeland. He is due back in court Dec. 3.

*Former “I Spy” star Robert Culp has won a ruling in his lawsuit alleging that the Los Angeles Zoo mistreats elephants. A judge rejected on Monday arguments by the city that the complaint filed by the 77-year-old actor and real estate agent Aaron Leider lacks a legal basis.

*Stephen Colbert knows how to play to his base. “I promise, if elected, I will crush the state of Georgia,” the Comedy Central host told a cheering crowd in Columbia, S.C., on Sunday. Colbert is seeking the Republican and Democratic presidential nominations in — and only in — South Carolina.
