Tracy McGrady scored 47 points and the Rockets got a little revenge for last season’s opening-round playoff loss by beating the Jazz 106-95 Thursday night in Salt Lake City.

Mike James added 15 points — two more than the Jazz’s reserves combined — and Chuck Hayes had 13 rebounds for the Rockets, who improved to 2-0 under new coach Rick Adelman and have yet to play a home game this season.

McGrady carried the Rockets. He was 17-for-27 from the floor and 11-for-14 from the line and added four assists.

*The Nets waived guard David Wesley less than a week after the team had traded for the 14-year veteran. New Jersey used the deal to get under the league’s luxury-tax level of $67.87 million. Wesley averaged 12.5 points and 4.4 assists during 14 NBA seasons.

*Pistons guard Richard Hamilton missed Thursday’s game at Miami over “a family matter” but was expected to rejoin the team Friday in Orlando.

*Madison Square Garden will improve arena accessibility to people with disabilities under a deal reached with the federal government to settle a lawsuit, authorities said. The Garden will provide 98 wheelchair and companion seats, along with two wheelchair and companion seats on the arena floor, U.S. Attorney Michael J. Garcia.
