Mary J. Blige
“JUST FINE”
mjblige.com
Ms. No More Drama is enjoying herself these days. Mary J. Blige’s new single is practically giddy, and she even lets loose a playful scream like Michael Jackson circa “Off the Wall.” Never mind that the album is called “Growing Pains” or that there is talk it may be delayed from its original Nov. 27 release date. “Just Fine” is pure fun, a slick little piece of dance pop.
Natasha Bedingfield
“LOVE LIKE THIS”
natashabedingfield.com
This video tries so hard to point out that Natasha Bedingfield and Sean Kingston aren’t a romantic couple that it actually calls attention to the oddity of a 25-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy singing about love together. The video makes it clear that Bedingfield has her own age-appropriate “love like this,” who is so totally not Kingston. Sure, Kingston sings about “making you my wifey,” but they’re seated in an oh-so-platonic way. Then, to drive the point home, the final shot is of Bedingfield and her video boyfriend, who is so totally not Kingston. [NEWSDAY]
