*The newborn twins of actor Dennis Quaid and his wife, Kimberly, were among three patients accidentally given 1,000 times the common dosage of a blood thinner, his rep confirms, but hospital officials said that none of the overdose victims had suffered any ill effects. The L.A. hospital has apologized.
*50 Cent and Kanye West have trash-talked in the past, but 50 had nothing but kind words and sympathy for West in an interview with The Associated Press. 50 said West is making the right decision by returning to the stage after his mother’s death. “I hope he can work his way through it,” he said. “It’s good to see him actually touring: You can work your way back into a comfortable space where you can deal with those situations.” Donda West, 58, died Nov. 10.

Janis Winehouse, a pharmacist, said this could be the perfect time for Amy to kick her drug habit.
*There might be less of him to love now, but Jon Favreau says he’s pleased he lost 85 pounds. With the help of his wife, Joya, a doctor, the actor-director went down to 205 pounds, People reports. Favreau, 41, shed about 5 pounds a week by following a diet his wife prescribed. “I would feel weird if I ate the way I used to,” Favreau said.
*Although he knows he couldn’t be the captain, William Shatner still wishes he had been asked to make a cameo in the new “Star Trek” movie. “How could you not put one of the founding figures into a movie that was being resurrected? That doesn’t make good business sense to me!” Shatner told Extra. Still, he conceded, J.J. Abrams’ reimagined “Star Trek” will be “a wonderful film.”
*Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced two cast changes in its production of Verdi’s “Falstaff,” which opens Jan. 28 and runs to Feb. 23 at the Civic Opera House. Israeli baritone Boaz Daniel will replace Peter Mattei as Ford, while American contralto Meredith Arwady will step in for Bernadette Manca di Nissa in the role of Mistress Quickly. Mattei’s management said the Swedish baritone is withdrawing because of his wife’s illness. Manca di Nissa, an Italian contralto, has announced her retirement.
