I LOVE …
… the square in downtown Woodstock, which is beautiful throughout the year but especially nice during the holidays when Santa, a horse-drawn carriage, Opera House [121 W. Van Buren St.] holiday shows (“A Christmas Carol,” etc.), and the amazing lights bring smiles to residents and visitors.
— Paul Lockwood, Woodstock
… that Gladstone Bakery from Milwaukee Avenue has opened [2859 Pfingsten Rd.] in Glenview. Now my family can enjoy the wonderful crispy-sugary “birds nests” that we have missed since moving to Buffalo Grove.
— Phyllis Faber, Buffalo Grove
I HATE …
… grocery store shoppers who do not reach for their purse or wallet until after the cashier tells them the total. Do they expect a freebie?
— Walt Kilmanas, West Dundee
… the people who stop on the main stairs of East Bank Club [500 N. Kingsbury St.] to answer their cell phones and stop the traffic flow.
— Rhonda Langston, Chicago
… when pedestrians walk across the street on the green left-turn arrow and give you the “evil eye” as you turn left and almost hit them.
— Geana Riggio, Winnetka
