One of the many people paying close attention to developments in the Hollywood writers strike is John Kramer, a bartender at Second City. The 49-year-old Kramer (right) just won a development deal with Crackle Studios, an Internet arm of Sony Pictures, for his short film “Hit Men.” The film (it can be viewed at either crackle.com or britethorn.com) gives a satirical take on the upcoming 2008 elections. Kramer also won a pitch meeting with executives at Columbia Pictures to discuss a possible feature film. “It’s extremely difficult to get into those kinds of meetings,” Kramer told us when we caught up with him on Friday. “Usually, you have to fight your way tooth and nail to get a meeting. As soon as the writers strike is settled, we’ll see what happens.”
