Levi Dyer made seven of his eight three-point attempts and scored 25 points as Illinois State broke away from a halftime tie for a 73-47 rout of Illinois-Chicago in Normal.
Dyer, a 6-foot-11-inch center, hit three three-pointers as the Redbirds (5-2) opened the second half with a 21-2 burst to take a 52-31 lead.
Osiris Eldridge, from Phillips High School, added 13 points for ISU, which shot 57 percent.
Josh Mayo and Robert Kreps each scored 10 points to lead the Flames (3-4), who shot just 29 percent in the last of a five-game stretch away from home.
UIC fought back from a seven-point deficit in the first half to tie the game at 29-29.
