*A front-page story in Thursday’s Metro section incorrectly stated that restaurateur Michael Arians paid more than $50,000 to hire a forensic anthropologist to study the remains of Mary Jane Reed, who was killed in 1948. That amount is the total Arians estimated he has spent since 1999 trying to clear up the mystery of who killed Reed.
*A story about services for homeless youth in Thursday’s Metro section erred in the number of homeless youths in Illinois. The correct figure is about 25,000, according to a 2005 study by researchers at the University of Illinois.
