Chicago police were questioning a 16-year-old student who attempted to bring a loaded handgun into the Bowen High School campus on the South Side on Monday, officials said. The backpack was screened by an X-ray machine before he had a chance to bring the gun into the campus at 2710 E. 89th St., said Michael Vaughn, a Chicago Public Schools spokesman.
