DROWNING ARREST: A Milwaukee woman who said she placed her 2-week-old twins in a bathtub and watched them struggle in the water was charged Monday with homicide after one boy died, according to a criminal complaint. Alisa Lorraine Evans, 38, also was charged with the attempted homicide of the other twin, who was expected to survive.

TIMES SQUARE MELEE: Six people were stabbed, one fatally, in a wild melee triggered by a dispute in a Times Square karaoke restaurant early Monday, New York City police said. The bloodshed occurred at Spotlight Live, where more daring patrons can sing karaoke while passersby watch on a TV outside the restaurant.

GAS SCAM: A South Charleston, W. Va., gas station clerk is accused of defrauding her boss out of nearly $50,000 by selling fuel to her family and friends for a tenth of a penny a gallon. The station’s owner noticed a significant drop in his income and found receipts that listed the deeply discounted rate.

BRUTAL MURDER: A 94-year-old Morristown, Tenn., man was found fatally beaten early Monday in a thicket of bushes, his left hand cut off, and three people were arrested, authorities said. Police said the suspects may have been trying to steal cash from Willie Lee Morgan’s home or hold him for ransom.

JUMP SURVIVED: A Philadelphia-area teen who jumped from his ninth-floor bedroom window in a suicide attempt is recovering, but doctors are unsure whether he will walk again. Jordan Burnham, 18, still cannot stand on his left leg, which was shattered Sept. 28.
