I love …
… fun places that stay that way — like the Hala-Kahiki [2834 River Rd.] in River Grove. Surrounded by Hawaiian decor, we sipped coconut vodka “Chi Chi” cocktails and watched snow drift onto the floodlit campy patio. Just like 40 years ago. What a “getaway.”
— John Ripley, Lombard
… when a vehicle signals my vehicle that it’s OK to make a left turn by flashing their headlamps.
— Sidney Freeman, Northbrook
… to get gas at Meijer on Illinois Highway 59 in Aurora. You are always told to have a good day via the speakers by the pump. In a very enthusiastic voice, they say “Good Morning Pump #7. I hope you have a wonderful day!” It just makes the painful purchase of gasoline a bit more pleasant.
— Drew Kayvani, Naperville
I hate …
… following opposite-side parking regulations on snowy days only to have the snow plowed against our cars — every time!
— Frannie Benbow, Skokie
… outdoor parking lots where half the population thinks this is the Indianapolis Speedway and the other half seems to think they’re strolling in a summer garden. Watch out!
— Lilias Circle, Evanston
… when people rush past Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts who have politely asked if they would like to buy the cookies/popcorn without any kind of acknowledgment. Is a “no thank you” or “I have already purchased some” so hard to say to these kids trying to earn money for their groups?
