HOUSE DIVIDED: The 100 members of Iowa’s House of Representatives are split 50-50 on a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, according to a Des Moines Register survey. Among state senators, 21 of 50 say they would approve the amendment, 16 are opposed, and the rest are undecided or didn’t respond.
SNOWMOBILE DEATHS: Two women were killed while riding snowmobiles in Dodge County, Wis., over the weekend. Their names were not released.
PRIMATE SCHOLAR: Iowa State University anthropologist Jill Pruetz is among 11 “Emerging Explorers” featured in National Geographic magazine. Pruetz is based in Fongoli, Senegal, where she studies savanna chimpanzees.
