A bank robber in Waterbury, Conn., shot and wounded an off-duty fire official who tried to subdue him, then escaped with a bag of money Wednesday, authorities said. Police chased the wrong man and shot him in the shoulder. The official who tried to stop the robber was treated and released, but the robber was still at large Wednesday night.
