HUMAN ERROR: A power failure that plunged large parts of Florida into the dark this week was caused primarily by human error, the state’s largest electric company said Friday. Florida Power & Light issued a preliminary report saying that a field engineer was to blame for Tuesday’s failure, which affected more than 584,000 customers.

TEEN CHARGED: Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., 17, was arrested Friday and charged with murder in the shooting death of his mother, who was a sheriff’s deputy, and his two younger sisters near Lawrenceville, Ga., according to authorities.

ZOO ARRESTS: Two months after the deadly tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo, two men were caught late Thursday after allegedly throwing acorns at the zoo’s two black rhinos. Both were detained by zoo employees, but only one was cited with a misdemeanor by San Francisco animal control for violating a park code that prohibits disturbing the animals.
