Recalls

*Acura is recalling 273,000 2004-08 TL sedans because prolonged high temperatures under the hood could cause the power steering hose to deteriorate and leak. Fluid that leaks onto a hot catalytic converter can lead to smoke and a possible fire.

*Acura is recalling 129,600 2004-05 TLs to address a problem with the circuit breaker in the windshield wiper motor that could keep the wipers from working.

*Combi USA is recalling some 67,000 Combi Centre ARB and Shuttle child safety seats (Models 8065, 8074, 8086, 8087 and 8520) and the travel systems with the seats (Models 4400, 4515 and 4520) after tests show the seats might separate from their bases in front-end collisions. Combi recommends consumers use the seats without the base while awaiting a retrofit kit. Visit www.combi- intl.com or call 800-543-7734.

Safety

*The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating 750,000 2000-02 Chevrolet Blazer, Oldsmobile Bravada and GMC Jimmy and Envoy SUVs in a review of a recall over brake-light failures. The agency has received complaints that the repairs didn’t fix the flaw.

*NHTSA is warning owners of about 4.6 million recalled Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles to bring their cars and trucks immediately to dealers to disconnect cruise-control switch systems linked to engine fires.

FYI

*The Mackinac Bridge Authority has raised the tolls on the 5-mile bridge linking Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas to $3, from $2.50. Vehicles with trailers will pay $1.50 per axle. The charge will be $3.50 per axle for motor homes and trucks. The commuter fee will be $1.60.

*Honda will stop building motorcycles in the U.S. in spring 2009. Honda says the 450 workers at the Marysville, Ohio, plant will be shifted to car, truck, engine and parts operations at Honda’s other plants in Ohio.
