Man dies after collapsing
An apparently homeless man who was trying to keep warm died Monday night after collapsing in a police station in Logan Square. Paul Schmatko, 47, was among several homeless people waiting in the lobby of the Shakespeare (14th) District Station, 2150 N. It’s a girl for Madigan
Illinois Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan has given birth to her second child. Lucy Lillian Madigan Byrnes was born Tuesday morning to Madigan and her husband, cartoonist Pat Byrnes. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 20 inches long. The couple have a 3-year-old daughter, Rebecca. Madigan said she would work from home for a “short time” before returning to her Thompson Center office.
Measure targets sticker scofflaws
Investigators from the city clerk’s office would be able to tap state driver’s license records to nab Chicago sticker scofflaws under a measure advanced Tuesday. Investigators on patrol now are authorized to access only state license-plate information in an attempt to determine whether a vehicle that does not have a windshield sticker is registered at a city address. City Clerk Miguel del Valle was unable to estimate how many violators may be snagged using the new information.
