VOLUNTEERS

*Volunteers are needed 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Saturday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. There are opportunities in a variety of areas, including guest services, emergency, mission and spiritual care, mail delivery, non-direct patient care and clerical work. *Nominations are being accepted for two annual community service awards, one for 2008 Prairie State College graduates and one for members of the community. All nominations must arrive at the college president’s office no later than April 4. Call 708-709-3637 for more information or a nomination form.

FUNDRAISERS

*The annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Alvernia Manor Retirement Community, 13950 Main St., Lemont. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Call 630-257-7721.

*The annual Candlelight Bowl fundraiser for the South Suburban Family Shelter will be held at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Orland Bowl, 8601 W. 159th St., Orland Park. Registration begins at 8:45 p.m. Admission is $50 per couple and includes four games of bowling, shoe rental and dinner. All proceeds will go to the shelter’s counseling program, which assists domestic-violence victims and their children. Call 708-798-7737.

*The Shepard High School Band Boosters will hold its annual spring arts, crafts and vendor show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5 at 13049 S. Ridgeland Ave., Palos Heights. Concessions will be available. Admission is $1 or a non-perishable food item. Call 708-802-1818.
