Steve Carell is glad to be back at his day job, playing clueless manager Michael Scott on the TV sitcom “The Office.”

The Writers Guild strike threatened to cut the current season short. But an agreement was reached in time to get more episodes taped, and the show returns to NBC on April 10.

Carell talked about his first day back at “The Office” while promoting “Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who!,” the animated film opening Friday in which he provides the voice for the Mayor of Who-ville.

“The first episode involves a dinner party that Michael Scott throws,” Carell said. “I think it’s maybe the funniest episode of the season so far. In terms of Michael and Jan, I would say that storm clouds loom.”

Enjoy that while it lasts. A possible actors’ strike is looming in the spring.

“Well, as a member of the Screen Actors Guild, I would have to go with whatever the vote is,” Carell unenthusiastically shrugs.

“I have no idea what’s happening specifically in terms of the potential strike, so I don’t know. But if the union decided to strike, I would have to as well.”
