*Illinois State Supt. Christopher Koch announced that Woodland Middle School has received a 2007 Academic Improvement Award for Exemplary Gains in Performance on the Illinois Learning Standards. It was one of about 80 schools recognized statewide.
*Woodland Intermediate East Principal Melissa Kahn Passehl announced she will resign at the end of June. The Board of Education said it will not replace Passehl and will restructure the Intermediate School administrative team to one principal, one associate principal and two assistant principals. Supt. Joy A. Swoboda expects to name a new associate principal March 19.
LAKE FOREST, DISTRICT 115
*The Lake Forest High School junior class is sponsoring a free Senior Citizen St. Patrick Party from 2 to 4 p.m. in Dickinson Hall, 100 East Old Mill Rd., Lake Forest. Vocalists and members of Jazz Band will provide music and entertainment. Refreshments will be prepared and served by the students. The event is open to senior citizens in Lake Forest and Lake Bluff. *Scholarships ranging from $500 to $4,000 are available to students attending Lake Forest High School. Qualifications and circumstances include music and theatrical talent, service and leadership, financial need, students who are members of SADD, students who are members of the Red Cross Club, students who love to read and students who have a parent who graduated from Lake Forest High School.
