IUPUI’s men’s and women’s teams received a thrashing at the hands of Oral Roberts in the Summit League tournament finals, but at least the Jaguars’ mascot got some shots in on their behalf.
Jawz the Jaguar met ORU’s Eli the Eagle at half-court for what was supposed to be a dance-off during the first half, but they ended putting up their dukes. Video of the skirmish has been posted on several blogs and YouTube.
The two furry combatants were pulled apart and both were done for the night.
The male student who played Eli was stripped of that role for the rest of the year, according to the Tulsa World, citing a statement by the school.
No word on Jawz’s punishment.
