On March 18, 2008 John M. Cabot of Glenview succumbed to his fourth and most difficult battle with cancer.
He was 61 years young.
John was a renaissance man who embraced life to the fullest.
His passions ran from British racing cars and motorcycles to skiing, shooting and collecting antique canes and cufflinks.
At the age of 47 John started playing ice hockey with a vigor that had him participating on three teams with his daughters, son-in-law and several other family members.
One of his greatest joys.
John worked at US Foodservice where he was Senior Vice President of National Sales.
His 39-year career in the foodservice industry was typified by innovation and success.
John was a passionate customer advocate whose vision of a dedicated healthcare sales and marketing group remains unique today.
In 2007 the National Society for Healthcare Foodservice Management (HFM) established the John M. Cabot “Making a Difference Award” designed to honor an associate member who demonstrates sustained and selfless service.
John was a truly exceptional individual whose vision, strength, tenacity and compassion touched countless lives.
He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
John is survived by his mother Dina; wife Jill; daughter Christy and her husband Mark, daughter Lauren and her husband David; step-son Samuel and his wife Lauren, step-son Michael; grandson Griffin; four brothers and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. atN.H. Scott and Hanekamp, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview.
