Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington is accepting applicants for its Future Healthcare Professionals Program for high school juniors interested in health-related (non-physician) careers. The 40-hour-a-week program will meet weekdays from July 14 to Aug. 8. Eight students will be selected on the basis of an interview, teacher/counselor recommendation, essay, experience and grade-point average. A stipend will be paid at the end of the program. The Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove and Elk Grove Village are offering the Fallen Soldier Memorial Scholarship, based on citizenship. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, residents of Elk Grove Village and U.S. citizens. One $5,000 scholarship and two $2,000 scholarships will go toward study at a four-year college or university, junior college, trade school or vocational school. Applications are available at Elk Grove, Conant, St. Viator and Driscoll High Schools or at www.ccceg.org. The application deadline is 3 p.m. April 11. The McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce is offering two $1,000 scholarships for the 2008-09 school year. Applicants must be a dependent or employee of a McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce member in good standing. Applications are available in local high schools and colleges, the chamber office at 1257 N. Green St. in McHenry and the following McHenry locations: Worldwide Traveler, 333 N. Front St.; McHenry Savings Bank, 353 Bank Drive, off Illinois Highway 31; McHenry’s Favorite Sport Center, 1210 N. The deadline has been extended to 3 p.m. April 18 for the Village of Schaumburg’s 15th Annual Community Scholarship Program. Scholarships will be awarded to qualified residents to pursue educational training, upgrading or retraining. Each scholarship, not to exceed $1,000, will be paid to an approved Illinois educational institution. Applicants must be a Schaumburg resident and demonstrate financial need.
