Aubrey Huff drove in four runs and matched a career high with four hits as the Orioles beat the Rangers 8-1 for their sixth straight win. “We’ve already had more fun than at any time last year,” Huff said.

Ex-Sox outfielder Ryan Sweeney, who was acquired for Nick Swisher, tripled off Jeremy Accardo to score Kurt Suzuki with two outs in the ninth inning as the Athletics defeated the Blue Jays 9-8.

Troy Glaus’ two-run double in the eighth propelled the Cardinals to a 5-3 win at Houston. Glaus’ hit bounced off the bullpen wall in right-center to score Chris Duncan and Albert Pujols.

THREE DOWN

Not even Placido Polanco’s errorless streak could survive the Tigers’ 0-7 start. Detroit’s second baseman made his first error in 186 games on a relay throw in the third inning of a 5-0 loss to the Red Sox.

The Rangers’ Jason Jennings, a Dallas native making his first career start at Rangers Park, gave up four runs on seven hits and four walks in 4 2/3 innings in an 8-1 loss to the Orioles.

Alex Rodriguez struck out four times in a loss to the Royals. He was called out in the second, third and fifth facing Brian Bannister, then went down swinging in the seventh against Ramon Ramirez.
