SHAKE-UP: Dozens of minor earthquakes shook Reno on Sunday, prompting some frazzled residents to leave their homes. More than 150 aftershocks have been recorded after a magnitude-4.7 quake Friday. There were no reports of injuries or widespread damage.

GIFT BAN: Drug and medical device companies should be barred from offering free food, gifts, travel and ghostwriting services to doctors, staff members and students in all 129 of the nation’s medical colleges, the Association of American Medical Colleges has proposed.

DEGREE DISPUTE: Provost Gerald Lang of West Virginia University said Sunday he was resigning after being criticized for his handling of a master’s degree that was improperly awarded to the daughter of Gov. Joe Manchin.

FORCED DIET: An Arkansas inmate awaiting trial for murder is suing the county because he lost more than 100 pounds because of the menu. Broderick Lloyd Laswell is down from 413 to 308 pounds after eight months in the Benton County jail.
