GRISLY FIND: A 44-year-old woman in western Germany was arrested on suspicion of killing three of her babies after their bodies were discovered in the family freezer by her grown children looking for pizza, police said Monday. The three infants are believed to have been born alive, but authorities were awaiting autopsy results to determine how they died.

IRAQ ATTACK: Gunmen killed 10 Iraqi army soldiers Monday in an evening drive-by attack on a security checkpoint in Iraq’s volatile Diyala province, a military commander said. Maj. Gen. Abdel-Karim al-Rubaie said more than 20 gunmen in several cars opened fire at the checkpoint in the town of Muqdadiyah.

LEBANON PROBE: Lebanon began an investigation Monday into allegations that the militant Hezbollah group set up surveillance cameras near the Beirut airport to monitor the comings and goings of anti-Syria Lebanese politicians and foreign dignitaries. The charges have intensified political tensions.
