Scarlett Johansson and boyfriend Ryan Reynolds have announced they are becoming one.
Johansson’s rep told People magazine that after dating for more than a year, the two are engaged, and that “They’re both thrilled.”
Reynolds, 31, who is currently filming “The Proposal,” recently popped the question to Johansson, 23. Coincidence?
And Johansson is starring in the upcoming “He’s Just Not That Into You.” Reason to fret?
Reynolds previously was engaged to Alanis Morissette, and Johansson had been linked to Josh Harnett.
“Wolverine” costar Hugh Jackman recently revealed that he is protective of Johansson (they worked on 2006’s “Scoop” and “The Prestige”) but gave Reynolds his blessing, calling him “one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met … He’s phenomenal.”

Helen of Chicago
It turns out Ellen DeGeneres and Mayor Richard Daley are pretty funny — and managed to pull a fast one during their weekend taping of Ellen’s show in Chicago.
The mayor introduced DeGeneres Saturday by calling her “Helen,” and the talk show host mocked his supposed gaffe throughout the show. But on Monday, representatives for the mayor and DeGeneres’ said the whole thing was a put-on.
“He knows her name is Ellen,” Jodi Kawada, the mayor’s deputy press secretary, told RedEye. “He’s been a fan of hers for a long time.”
According to DeGeneres’ publicist, the mayor jokingly called her Helen during an April 15 phone call, and the gag has been going on ever since.
“I love that the mayor calls me ‘Helen.’ It’s a little running joke we have,” DeGeneres said Monday through a publicist. “Thank you Mayor Haley.” Watch the Chicago show for yourself at 3 p.m. Tuesday on NBC-Ch. 5.

Hero worship: Now with more Iron!
At first, Marvel Studios said: Let there be “Iron Man.”
And when “Iron Man” made more than $100 million in its first weekend in theaters, Marvel said: Let there be “Iron Man 2” — pronto.
Marvel gave the sequel a green light and set a release date of April 30, 2010, after Robert Downey Jr.’s action blockbuster flew past industry expectations over the weekend, The Associated Press reported Monday.
Marvel also opened the floodgates to other superhero titles, including “Thor” (due June 2010), “The First Avenger: Captain America” (May of 2011), “The Avengers” (July 2011) and “Ant-Man” (no release date yet).
